We are a friendly and inclusive group of LGBTQ+ golfers based across the UK.

Out2Golf UK is an inclusive and welcoming community for LGBTQ+ golfers. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the sport of golf, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Our group offers a fun and friendly environment where you can meet new people, improve your game, and enjoy the great outdoors. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner, you'll find a place in our group. Join us for regular golf outings, clinics, and social events. Come and be a part of a community that celebrates diversity and inclusion on the golf course.

 

Our history

 

In 1996 two of our current members wanted to be able to share their love of golf with other LGBTQ+ people. And so the "Irons Golf Society" was formed. Over the ensuing years, Irons Golf Society grew to more than 100 members.

2021: a new direction

In 2021 we changed our name to Out2Golf UK.

Out2Golf UK is run as a formal golf society, with a President, Captain, Secretary and Handicap Secretary. Our Captain for 2024 is Yvonne Hollis.

We share a love of golf with other LGBTQ+ people, including the German Rainbow Golfers and the American Stonewall Golfers.

Our members

 

Our 100+ members are based predominantly in the Greater London area, but we have members across the UK, Spain, Portugal and Thailand. 

 

We welcome all players irrespective of your sexual orientation. In fact, you don't need to be LGBTQ+ to play with us: so long as you're LGBTQ+ friendly and you love golf then we welcome you with open arms. 
 

With varying levels of skills, our members' handicaps start from 4. One of our members recently had a hole-in-one at one of our competition rounds.

 

Where we play

Every month we play a competition round at a course in the greater London area. There's usually between 20 to 30 people. Our Events Page list all of our current rounds.

 

The monthly round is played as a single Stableford competition. Prizes are awarded for the top three positions, the longest drive, nearest the pin in two, nearest the pin and 2's (a 2/birdie on a Par 3).

 

We also play a year long Matchplay competition: it's a singles knockout competition, culminating in one triumphant winner at the end of the year.

And at least twice a year we play week long competitions at various locations in the UK. In 2021 we played at the Celtic Manor Resort and the Five Lakes Resort

 

Some of our members also participate in international LGBT+ events including the German Rainbow Open (a 36 hole competition with more than 150 players played in Dusseldorf), the Rainbow Challenge (a 36 hole competition organised by Stonewall Golfers in the USA and played in Palm Springs, California), the Eurogames and the Gay Games.
